I wanted to see what the price was going to be but you have to enter your email address first. No thank you. I don't want to know that bad! Max |

Exactly. It is some pre-crowdfunding project and they are probably trying to find out if it is worth doing. That by itself is a sign of no faith in your own product. With so many crowdfunding project going wrong i think crowdfunding is not the best way to find out if a project is worthwhile doing. Just build it, show it to the world, fund it then build the fancy one with crowdfunding to get economy of scale. Microblocks. Build with logic. |

i'm guessing it is something similar to this in concept: https://learn.adafruit.com/7-portable-raspberry-pi-multitouch-tablet?view=all but the problem with such designs is that the cost of RPi + LCD panel + LCD driver board + battery + enclosure is substantially greater than the cost of a cheap android tablet. on the plus side, you do get more I/O, and the opportunity of having a bigger battery. an interesting idea might be a standard android tablet tethered to a RPi zero via USB OTG. with suitable software running on each, one then gets the extra I/O of the RPi. then again, an MX470 could probably work equally well as an I/O expander while consuming much less power than even a RPi zero. cheers, rob :-) |

Since you mentioned USB OTG I thought I would share a quick observation with the serial function. It's purpose is to act like a USB to serial converter in software to give a terminal session. Using Jessie not Stretch, I had no problem getting it working but after a couple of days the serial function as well as wifi would stop working. Cycling the power would always get it going again for a couple more days. I hope it gets fixed in the latest OS release which is Stretch. Max |
