I've just uploaded the latest version of GFXterm to the document register: http://www.thebackshed.com/docregister/ViewDoc.asp?DocID=22 4-mar-2018: this update provides a workaround for an issue with geoff's MX250-based ASCII Video Terminal. when connected to one of these, the connection is dropped if any USB device is plugged in or removed from the system. the problem is with the way GFXterm checks to see if a USB-to-serial bridge has being unplugged, using function calls not supported by the ASCII Video Terminal. to prevent such disconnections, uncheck the box marked "check for USB unplug" in the serial connect window. the downside is that without the check being performed, an unplugged USB cable will only be detected when GFXterm tries to send a character to the unplugged device. i'd be interested to hear if anyone discovers any devices other than the ASCII Video Terminal that require this box to be unchecked. please do let me know that this version works ok - ie, that i've not broken anything! there have been a few other small tweaks made under the hood, and one can never be 100% sure of there being no unexpected side-effects. cheers, rob :-) |
