I finally got another computer for my workshop. It was an old machine from the school where my Daughter teaches. It was loaded with Win7 but had not been used for many years. First problem was it needed a password, with some help from the internet I overcame that problem and have everything set up ALMOST. The USB ports work OK with keyboard and printer and if I connect a storage device all is OK. I have TeraTerm and MMEdit but when I connect an MM it does not show up. In TeraTerm I can't set a Serial Port it is greyed out and MMEdit can't find a port. In Device Manager it just shows up as USB composite device.
The hardware is OK because if I run Linux all works fine it is just Win7.
Any ideas.

Hi Paul.

What device are you trying to talk to?
Native PIC32 USB port such as on the Explore-100 or Explore-64, or one of the newer units such as the Explore-28 or MMX?

EDIT: Windoze 7 will need drivers for either family of unit. The 'Silicon Chip' driver works with all the PIC32 native USB connections, and I can link you to a download if you are using a 1455 chip-USB based model such as an E28 or MMX etc.

Yeah, where have we heard that before?(rhetorical! )
Windoze is the OS that complains the most.
Linux just sees things and they appear in the tree under /dev/ I have found.Edited by Grogster 2018-03-14

OK, MicroBridge is a 1455 chip, so you will probably need the drivers.

Download from here.

Installer will say it is installing a 2200 series driver, but this is also compatible with the 1455 chip.
