Several months ago I decided I needed to start using SMD so embarked on a couple of projects that used a number of SMD resistors and capacitors (1206).

While the resistors have the value marked, capacitors don't which is frustrating.

I ordered one on these and had it delivered for pick-up at the local BigW store - took about a week.

In order to simplify the measuring of SMDs, I put it in a case and built a custom pair of leads like below

The tweezers were a spare pair I had and the two insulated "fingers" were 2 legs from an IC socket.

As well as measuring resistance, capacitance (also displays ESR), it can measure inductance (again unmarked in SMD) as well as transistor, diode, FET etc.

I find it invaluable as it is now a very simple matter to do a quick check of each SMD cap before I solder them on board.

Nope.

Better Rat trap maybe.

Saw the little (not so actually), run across the hat baton in the shed for the third time tonight.

Boldly defying my traps & even stealing the bait some nights.

Phil.

I like your idea with the tweezers, but I think Miks chinese source is cheaper (only 2 EUR).

I think I found the smartest mouse/rat trap on Youtube (V4 @3.20min): just a simple sheet of paper.

But I'm still interested in seeing a real smart (smarter than any rat on this planet) electronic (?) Trap.
