(Or the lack thereof). Is there some reason other than speed why SPI LCDs don't seem to exceed 3.5"? For some applications, speed is not very significant, and a 5" SPI LCD at 480x320 or a 7" LCD at 800x480 would suit. Is there some reason these are not made? The ease of interfacing would seem to make these desirable. PicoMite, Armmite F4, SensorKits, MMBasic Hardware, Games, etc. on fruitoftheshed |

Hi Lizby Silicon Chip magazine in Australia published about a year ago a circuit for connecting a 5 inch screen to a Micromite using SPI. It was in their Circuit Notebook section. Unfortunately I am not in Australia at the moment so can't look it up for you. Perhaps one of the other TBS guys can oblige. Louis - |

Found it. October 2017: Circuit Notebook: Using a 5-inch touchscreen with the Micromite Plus Explore 64 by Ted Price. I don't have any way presently to 100% confirm use of SPI for screen display. - |

It is speed. A five or seven inch LCD, although technically possible, would take such a long time to refresh on SPI due to its size, it makes them undesirable for most developers who will want a fast refresh rate for all LCD's - including the big ones. Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |
