I am aware of the battery backed memory, available with some RTC modules but Geoff recommended some other device, somewhere in the MM documentation....can't seem to locate the info, now...any clues? I believe that it was EEPROM but can't be sure. |

Ah, that's the one, thanks Geoff. Brings me to another question: There's more mention of "clean power": I just threw some 8-bit MC devices on Perma-Proto board (nice stuff) and they just would not start. I had neglected to fit bypass caps between VCC & GND (0.1uf). Fitted the caps and the devices sprang to life. Wouldn't it be prudent to do the same with this device? |

Yes, bypass caps are important. When I was developing the CFunction I had a lot of trouble getting it to work reliably and clean power fixed the problem. BTW that zip file is in the Embedded C Modules folder of the Micromite firmware distribution zip file. There is a lot of good stuff in there but it is often overlooked.
