Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Explore-28 uses Pins 4& 5 to talk to USB-Serial interface.
I need these PINS to connect to the LCD
Will this be a problem?

pins 4 and 5 are only used for programming a new copy of the mmbasic firmware into the mx170. when this is not being performed, the pins are tri-stated at the 1455 and so can be used for any other purpose (like driving an LCD). the only problem you may have is if you later want to upgrade the firmware on the E-28.

i would suggest having either the LCD socketed, or a pair of jumpers you can remove if needsbe. however, provided pins 4 and 5 both run to input pins on the LCD, it is possible the presence of the LCD will not impact re-programming the firmware.
