Hi all,
I recently bought a backpack V3 and tried to upgrade its micro.
pic32pro runs (win10), but I get the following error:
No response from ascii ICSP adaptor
and
No target found.
I have pic32pro and the hex file in the same directory (folder)

any suggestions?

Regards, Bob Devries

Hi Bob,

Same response that fixed a similar problem for Greg.....

Have you put the pic16 into PROGRAM mode? (Momentarily short the 2 pin header and the led should light)

Regards,

Mick

Hi Mick.
Yes the backpack V3 has a push button switch and an LED. If I press the switch the LED lights but when pic32prog starts it goes out again and programming fails.. BTW the chip ia a PIC32MX170F-256B-501/SP

Does this have anything to do with the glitch on the MISO pin mentioned in Silicon Chip (August 19 pp 9?)

The MISO 'glitch' is explained in the Silicon Chip May article and Peter Mather's post here. The offending signal is on pin 9 which is not connected so it is not the problem.

I suggest that you carefully check all of the PCB around the PIC16F1455 IC for dry joints, unsoldered connections and solder bridges. Remove and re-seat the IC and check for bent pins. Check the value of the 10k resister on the reset line (pin 7 of the PIC16F1455).

Also remove and re-seat the PIC32MX170F and check for bent pins.

Thanks Rob.

Bob, do as Rob says before you try anything else. A quick search shows that this has occurred before and Rob's suggestion was the fix.
