Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

@Chrisk

Have a look at Annex WiFi Basic for ESP8266. In Annex Basic you can send a email which should achieve what you need?

Annex Basic for ESP8266

... and scroll down to EMAIL in the Commands section.

The main page for details on Annex Basic for ESP8266 is here

Annex Basic is very similar in structure to MMBasic but with the added advantage of WiFi network support.

Hope this helps,

Heard of http://www.esp8266basic.com/ but not Annex. (ESP8266 Basic doesn't seem like it is still developed?)

Is Annex stable? Notice it's still in Beta. And no ESP32 port (yet)...

For private use I think its very stable. I've here difference modules running without problems.
You can use the beta release with the latest fixes or the stable release with not all actual functions.

The ESP32 beta release you can also download here:

There is a beta release for the ESP32. I've used it, but not extensively. Supposedly there is to be a new release for the ESP32 Real Soon Now.

Regarding stability, I have a setup monitoring currents of 120V appliances which stops reporting for unknown reasons after several days, but the cause may not be Annex-related.

I have another Annex device (Wemos D1 mini) reading and reporting over wifi the temperatures on 3 zone feed pipes on my boiler, and that has been running for over a month without a problem.

I've been using Annex for a year now, since its original release, but have not put too many things into final use in my home automation setup. I am using it to control a 120V 50W 4' LED shop light, which works well, and have used it for dimmer control of a 12V 48W LED for emergency lighting.
