This is amazing - and quite worrying all at the same time. Perhaps this is the terminator prototype. 2020 Terminator in reality... It's so good, I wonder about if this video is real or not. Thoughts? Opinions? Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

fake. It just doesn't look right, very human and fluid not the typical little twitches and rapid stops of fast moving machinery. I would also be surprised if we are at that level of sensory perception to machine agility just yet... Also the monumental risks being taken by those guys with live fire about, I doubt it would ever happen with a willing volunteer. but anyway... https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/armed-robot-video/ This is the current state of the art in un-tethered machine agility... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sBBaNYex3E ... that is in the public domain. What the military are up to...? Edited 2020-08-23 16:42 by CaptainBoing |

I dont see a combat future for a walking machine that size. A hand full of drones with a gun and grenade could do more damage for a fraction of the cost. Fast and maneuverable, fly in, get a couple of shots off, and if it looks bad, go kamikaze with the grenade. And I see a future in drone jet fighters, G'forces are not as limiting. Grogs et al, I certainly hope: 1) its a fake 2) I'm not around when it becomes true (as it will). Boston Dynamics do have some amazing bots (without the guns) and I think it was Grogs? that showed TBS the video of small swarming drones, each carrying a tiny explosive device - just as scary. The scary thing I see is the continuation of mankind's propensity to put a lot more effort and intelligence into 'what' and 'how' technology can do new things rather than identifying and safeguarding society (including, ultimately, mankind and the environment) against any possible negative aspects. We now have the Nobel Prize, should we also have the Thatcher/Reagan Prize?, the GMO Prize? and maybe (in due course) the AI Prize? (and some here would like to see the Windows Prize). Cheers, Andrew |

You guys don't know how happy you have made me to find it it fake. These days, with computers getting more and more clever, a sophisticated terminator type robot is probably not THAT far away.... Thanks for the confirmation. ![]() Also loved the video Gizmo linked to showing how they did it - very clever! It was so good, that was what was making me wonder! ![]() EDIT: I also note that in the version I linked to in the first post(which was sent to me in an email), quite a bit of the original video is missing - the parts that would have made it more obviously a fake, so from what I DID see, it looked possible. Even I had my doubts, but these days.... Edited 2020-08-23 17:07 by Grogster Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

Are you sure the 'how it was done' video isn't a coverup/fake? Hmmm...I stopped watching the video when the guy started talking...just what was the purpose of this...trying to get noticed? Now there will be many people believing and never seeing the other video. Sometimes I think the future of mankind is that everyone will have PTSD! Steve |
