Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I wasn't happy with my brand new CMM2 sitting bare on my bench alongside a lot of other metal junk on my desk. So I hastely printed out a label and put together a prototype case (the front panel is just thick cardboard covered with a printed surface). When I get comfortable with how I am using the CMM2 I will decided on what I/O goes where and either cut or 3d print permanent front and back panels.

For the time being it just has the power switch exposed at the front.

Yes, I know it's an ignition key switch.... but is there a better way to turn this amazing bit of hardware on or off? I think not! :-)

I also dug out an old 1600x1200 (aka 800x600) monitor that I bought back in 2004, but couldn't bear to part with (mainly because it cost me an arm and a leg back then).

As the case evolves I will add more pictures. But for the time being, I'm going to play with the programming side (now that I'm not worried about it shorting out on the junk on my desk).

Thanks. My earliest computer obsession came from electronics magazines that my dad used to buy in the 70's, and they all had these homebrew cases (like the Altair 8800's). I think that thought has been nestling in the back of my brain since then.
