Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Installed latest W10 "upgrade" - took a long time to install, now takes several times longer to start up, and runs like a dog.  No idea of possible benefits, overall I'd advise people to avoid it until Redmond gets its act together.

Thanks Microsoft.

Can you uninstall in Windows Update. Normal updates can be uninstalled don't know about an Upgrade. I'm fairly sure I have the latest upgrade on 2 machines and both run well. This one is running 20H2 installed a couple of weeks back and runs fine.

Can't stand the layout of 10 and calling programs " Apps".
WTF??

The machine I have it on which is a newish machine I put a program on which makes it like win 7. I can use and find my way around it now.

Want to get my Father a new computer and I'll have to do the same for him. No way he is going to be bothered mucking round trying to re learn how to use a computer again and I don't blame him.

Yeh, I don't like the "APP" word, I think it's a new age thing all the kids have this app and that app on their phones. I understand it is short for Application but what was wrong with 'Program'.

Thanks that is the best option for me I think. [ Yes it is an update rather than an upgrade ]

It reports 20H2 installed OK... but - literally ten minutes to start up, then is disk bound continuously... hopeless. It also then "updated" fifteen other Microsoft crapps without notice - maybe that is behind the disk use - but I am just so sick of the s**t..

What sh*ts me to tears is the " Security" Updates that treat everyone's computer like it holds the secrets of the Universe.

If someone wants to hack my forum accounts or my pics from the family dinner a month back, WTF do I care? I don't have any banking or personal info on my computer, don't trust that and have no seed for it so there is no need to slow things down on my 13 Yo machine trying to make it something it will never be, an impenetrable Fortress.

There is so much useless crap on 99% of computers people will never use but the things I did used to use are now deleted and you have to chase them down and install them.... If they will still work.

What are you using?  I find Open Shell quite good and it is free and open source. You can set it up to access both Menu systems seamlessly.
