Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I have been thinking about this for a while and I may be off base but would it be possible and beneficial to add Radial gradients in the graphic primitives or as a flood fill that are keyed to the light source of the 3D engine.  It is an old trick to efficiently archive Sudo 3d effects with rater low resource demands. There are a lot of articles on the technique like https://www.ellenfinkelstein.com/pptblog/3d-effects-with-radial-gradients/ and https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/gradients.html

Drop shadows may also be cheap to implement.

I am not sure if this is a good idea but I thought I would propose it as an option to augment the 3D side of things. Feel free to disregard if this is either too difficult or not beneficial enough to bother.   thanks.
