Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Good afternoon gents...
I am laying out a new PCB using the 470 64 pinner... I wanted to find an easy way to check if the end user has a USB connection enabled and thought of using pin 33, (input only & 5v tolerant), and just connecting it to pin 34 (USB 5v)... If USB is plugged in, pin 33 should be "high" and I could then send out a starting screen full of information to the Teraterm program... If "low" then I just ignore any USB user screens and continue on with the main program flow...
I was concerned when I looked at the schematic symbol name for pin 33 and saw that it could be used as a USB ID input pin... As far as I know the Micromite firmware does not use pin 33 in that way BUT, wanted to check with everyone before I connect the two pins together and write any code... I don't think anyone has done this, so, maybe a question for Geoff or Peter...
