I know that MMX-100/144 supports ILI9341 in 16-bit mode. I have used it first-hand and it is impressive. What I don't know, is if 8-bit mode is supported - specifically, in MMX-64. I do not (yet?) have a 64 pin PIC32MZ chip/platform, so I cannot simply hook up an LCD and check it for myself - otherwise, I would have been happy to do that and discover the answer on my own. Actually, the whole reason I am asking this question is to determine whether or not the 64-pin chip will be a viable option for me. SPI LCD is unfortunately a little too sluggish for my needs. That's by no means a poor reflection on its implementation; Geoff and Peter have done an amazing job with the performance and simplicity (and features) of MMBasic! But, the physical world has its limits (i.e., SPI in general), and there is only so much even gurus can do to overcome that. I have spent time combing through the forums in search of the answer, but unfortunately I have not turned up anything that I would call definitive. I did find this thread which, if I am reading/interpreting it correctly, seems to imply that ILI9341 8-bit mode is supported in all MMX versions (and 16-bit mode only in 100/144). If you happen to see this, @matherp, could you confirm that MMX-64 supports ILI9341 in 8-bit mode? Or, if @matherp is not lurking on this thread, I would appreciate someone else jumping in who happens to know the answer from first-hand experience. Many thanks. Cheers, Brant |

ILI9341 is not supported in 8-bit parallel mode on any MMX variant - sorry |

Okay, thanks. No need to apologize. There are lots of other great things to love about MMX. Normally I would gravitate towards the 100 pin MZ anyway (and 16-bit mode) ... but there is a bit of a supply crunch of chips these days. I can come by the 64 pin units relatively easily (domestically) and wondered if that might be a solution. I'll just scratch that idea off my list, that's all. I already have a bunch of bare ILI9341-based LCD panels of the required size (2.6"), so that's why I am focused on the 9341. Cheers. |
