Hitomezashi is a Japanese embroidery technique using short horizontal and vertical stitches to create repeating patterns which can be intricate and beautiful. Typical hitomezashi patterns repeat exactly over the entire area.

This program generates patterns that look somewhat like hitomezashi but add some randomization to create emergent patterns of closed regions that are then colored with a user-selectable number of colors.
