Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hi all.

PicoMite standard version, not the VGA version.

1) Can you use Cfunctions on the PicoMite?  I have looked in the manual, but cannot find any mention of them, unless I have missed it in the manual, which would not be the first time for me.  Specifically, interested in the serial TX and RX Cfunctions for any I/O pin.  It's not a major issue, as there are two native COM ports on the PM, but I am just looking to the future.  AFAIK, The PicoMite port does not support Cfunctions from what I can remember, but I might be totally wrong.

2) Waveshare sell a very nice version of the module here called the Pico Plus, which has a much gruntier buck-boost converter, and on-board Li-ION battery charging chip and battery connector.  They are more expensive at $13 per module, but for the added features, I am interested in this module.  It has a 4MB flash chip(W25Q32JVSSIQ) on-board vs the normal 2MB one, and I am wondering if the PM firmware will still run OK on that chip?  Hoping that it will just ignore the upper 2MB of flash, but still run fine.  Perhaps Peter could chime in here with a comment as to yes or no.  Zero point in buying even one of these modules, if the answer is a hard 'No, it won't run with that FLASH chip.'

They also do a very nice looking full-feature Li-ION battery backup piggyback board with real-time I2C charge monitoring etc here for $16 that you can add a standard Pico module to, and apparently comes with the dinky little battery also.  I would go for that module, but stacked modules will be too thick for the case I need to put the project in, but that is another nice option for battery backup on your PM projects, and so long as you weren't needing hundreds of them, sixteen bucks is quite affordable for the features of that board also.

Thanks for any replies.

Hi,
CSUBs are supported on the PicoMite.

Here is one Peter wrote

I think the TX and RX serial could be converted. Just wondering if you have actually used them on the MicroMites. The TX seems like it would be useful, it just transmits when its called, but wondering if the RX has been used, as it will only receive while it is actually being called.

Lovely, thanks for that and the link.
I wonder why it is not mentioned in the manual?
Perhaps I have an outdated manual.  I have 5.07.03

I have used the TX one a few times when I have already used both native COM ports on the MM2 chips and needed a 3rd COM channel.

I have also used the RX one a couple of times, but more often need the TX one.
