As a slow, error prone hunt-and-peck typist my solution, when using TeraTerm is to type 'Files' then 'edit " ' or 'run " ' etc then use the mouse to highlight the required file name then press Alt-V to paste it to the command line after edit " then follow with the final ".

So I end up with:-

edit "Long_file_name.bas"

with a little less typing an no errors in the name.
