G'Day Guy's, Well that board From disco should be here this afternoon ![]() ![]() My old phone's SDCard is 32 gig and has over 4 gig of MP3's including the bacoben top 500 of American Rock songs. Also got the latest File Manager bas file so my first task will be getting MP3's to play. Now this will be the first time I use audio and the one thing I will need to buy is the audio cable so I can use the audio ports on that 32" LCD TV that became surplus with getting a smart TV. So by the looks it's a single connector then split into 2 lines for left and right channels. I'm sure JBHI will have a cable but just want to sure I get the right one. |

That is a great collection of old school Rock 'n Roll. When I'm skiing and don't really know what I want to listen to... Usually I press scramble on that directory and it gets me through the day. Edited 2025-08-26 13:49 by EDNEDN |

Ok did a search on the forum and hit a brick wall ![]() ![]() So went into JBHI and grabbed a stereo to twin RCA cable so the audio side is all sorted. ![]() Now I did try and zip my collection of MP3's and my shed mini computer went into old folks mode or should I say winsucks did ![]() Had a look at drop box and in personal mode only 2 gig is allowed so may have to split the file up into parts just so the file can be compressed without going into stall mode ![]() I did go down to see if the package had arrived and it does look like it will here on the afternoon run. The package got into Mt Barker 4.30 am on Monday and I did ask if the postage service from there was on a snail to cut costs ![]() Ednedn I got all these MP3 files back in the day of ISDN and a mate in the states setup a secure connection where it took close to 3 months to transfer all the MP3's. Over the years and stuffed computers I have tried to keep it all complete and I did notice some songs missing in the top 10 so I do need to go right thru and sort out the collection and now I just need to learn how to use the File Manager and the pico2 can do it all. As the MP3 file names are pretty long they will need to be trimmed so it will be a huge job. |

Ok picked up the package this afternoon and got everything down to the house shed and found I had to switch the TV to HDMI input, well that got the screen going nicely. I had hooked up a USB keyboard that worked on my CMM2 only to find it won't work so went back up to the shed to look for more and only had PS2 keyboards so used the PS2/USB dongle and found the same. Now at first the device manager said serial device with no driver and on pressing the reset button on the pico2 fixed it and assigned it to COM12. I fired up teraterm and couldn't get anything typed in as a block was just flashing so tried MMCC and as the screen shot shows I typed list in the type box above as no input was working below and the output is shown on the TV ![]() So not sure what is going on and in the corner by the USB outlets a red led is lit so that may be a clue Edited 2025-08-26 17:56 by Bryan1 |

H Bryan, I have had PS2-USB convertor that just was a connector change. So although it connects to a USB connector, under water is is still a PS2 keyboard. If that is the case, then this won't work for you, since this pico needs a genuine USB keyboard (the convertor works for the CMM2 though, CMM2 expects a PS2 mouse that connects through USB). So a genuine USB keyboard is needed. For the COM port, make sure you select 115200 baud. Check if you have below jumpers installed on your board. ![]() Volhout Edited 2025-08-26 18:47 by Volhout PicomiteVGA PETSCII ROBOTS |

HI Harm switching to 115200 in MMCC did the job on the console and when I typed list Gerry had put bubble universe on so typed run and the program worked ![]() My USB keyboard is an old IBM one and no luck getting it going so tomorrow I will go buy a new one along with a new mouse then the fun can begin with the File Manager and my MP3 collection so I can sort out each band into it's own folder then workout which Bacoben songs I lost. As you can see in the photo it was 4.30pm when I set everything up so a big cleanup is on the cards and mounting the TV so it's off the bench. This TV has 2 HDMI inputs so when I do get another HDMI cable I can hookup my laptop to the TV and find the remote so changing the HDMI will be a breeze. Got alot of reading to do so getting upto speed on each command by reading the manual in big print then switching back to coding in MMEdit on the big screen and then transferring to the board will make life that much easier. Now 6.003 is on there so is there any need to flash a later uf file or just stick with this on for now. Edited 2025-08-26 19:25 by Bryan1 |

G'Day Guy's, Went in and bought a new logitech USB keyboard and USB mouse got home hooked them up and still no joy. So downloaded 6.01B10 and installed it and yes the jumpers for 2-4 were taken out. performed a option reset HDMIUSB and it reset so removed the USB C cable installed the keyboard and mouse and STILL no joy. I have tried that old USB keyboard and the new one on my laptop and both of them work but trying to get that new one on the board working just won't work and no green led's are lighting up so the problem is with the board. Here is a screen shot ![]() Now looking at the board there is 4 leds for the usb ports and none are lit just the red led that says active. Anyway time for lunch then more sleuthing to do to try and get this working Regards Bryan Edited 2025-08-27 14:47 by Bryan1 |

Bryan, Check the orientation of that 4*4 jumper block I sent you. It must end up connecting 1-2 and 3-4. Wrong way round and I only get the Red led, no greens. Gerry F4 H7FotSF4xGT |

Hi Gerry just saw your post so came out to the shed and changed that jumper 90 degrees then turned the board on and the leds came on and YEA the keyboard worked. Just plugged the mouse in and it cameup with USB Mouse Connected on Channel 2 So typical of me not seeing the wood from the trees Just reset the board and it did show both the keyboard and mouse are connected ![]() Also I connected the laptop to channel 2 on the HDMI on the TV so by simply pressing a button at the back of the TV I can switch screens. Now I did try and play a MP3 and no sound came from the TV so decided to turn off the TV and turn it back on where a message came " No HDMI Sound Available" so I will have to get a speaker that has RCA inputs. So back to JBHI again in the morning. Edited 2025-08-27 17:02 by Bryan1 |

Hi Bryan, I have not played with sound but I think the output will not directly drive a speaker, it is probably meant to feed at line level. I am sure someone will fill in the details on this. Gerry F4 H7FotSF4xGT |

G'Day Guy's, Well after having a good read of the manual it is clear in order to get sound another device is needed and several examples are given. So if I may ask what are members using with this board to get sound so I can get a guideline to what I need to do. Regards Bryan |

You already have OPTION AUDIO configured and the board has built in PWM audio filters so it is ready to go. It should be able to drive 32Ω headphones to a reasonable volume without an amplifier. Many mobile phones are supplied with suitable ones so hunt in your odds-and-ends drawer. Amplified computer speakers should plug straight in. As you already have a 3.5mm to RCA lead any audio amplifier and speakers will work. If your TV/monitor has audio input sockets you may be able to use that. Get into it's setup menu to see if external audio can be set to work with HDMI video. |

Thanks for that tip Phil got into the TV settings and changed the input from digital to analogue and here is the result Edit: on reading the manual answered my question about making a shuffle file so MP3's can play one after the other. Just make a new folder and point the Play MP3 command to the new folder and the shuffling is done. One neat feature which I will love having songs playing on the TV while learning on HDMI2 on the big screen rather than the tiny screen on my laptop. With that old IBM keyboard and infact the mouse can be put on my laptop so the laptop can be going and got the big screen to view. Finally got around to pulling out my old controllers a microsucks side winder and a logitech Attack 3 so thats the next challenge getting one of them working. Edited 2025-08-28 16:19 by Bryan1 |

Ok so just tried with the Logitech Attack 3 on USB 3 and used print MM.info(USB 3), Hex$(MM.info(USB VID 3),4) Hex$(MM.info(USB PID 3),4) 0 046 C31C Now for the microsoft Sidewinder 0 045E 0038 So I don't know if this is any help on getting any of these joysticks working. |

AFAIK only the PS3 and PS4 controllers are supported. Check the user manual. Volhout PicomiteVGA PETSCII ROBOTS |
