Hi, I used search field to look for help, but it displayed many posts with the word "come". So I apologize if someone has already asked this:

In August I was able to use USB to connect to my Raspberry Pi in a terminal emulator on Windows 10 to load MMBasic programs.

Tried to connect this week (January 2024) and COM support was missing. Went into Device Manager in Windows and there were no virtual COM ports!

In the terminal program the only connection choice is now TELNET TCIP - no more serial COM Ports.

This is driving me crazy! Did Microsoft remove COM ports in a Windows upgrade?

I can send screen shots if that is helpful.

Happened to me just yesterday and it has happened before. In my case it was after selecting an "invalid cpuspeed".

I tried all the usual refresh stuff in device manager but the only thing that brings it back is plugging my PicoMite into a different socket on my hub. I get the original comport number, no problem but I need to switch sockets.

It might also be worth checking the USB cable you are using. Is it the same one you used back in August? I've had some that seem to be power only (phone chargers) and don't carry data.
