Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Olimex say these boards  have all 48 GPIOs, 2MB/16MB QSPI flash, 8MB QSPI PSRAM etc.

More info

Good? Bad? Why?

First observation, the SD card slot on the XXL version is on the bottom and a little bit too far from the edge so that it'd be difficult to get the card in and out if you had it in a project or on a breadboard. you could just put a flap of tape around your SD card so you could pull it out, but putting it back in would be a pain. I think that's a Design Flaw.  Because every pin is available, you could use this for any of the projects, but it wouldn't work in any of them that use a pinout of the original Pico2. I would like to see what pin the SPRAM uses as well.

From manual Ver 6.00.01 Revision 4:

"If PSRAM is present and configured MMBasic will add it to the general purpose
RAM pool so programs will have an enormous amount of general RAM to work with, even though it may be a little slower."

IMHO looks "Good"

I have mixed feelings. I don't like having the SD card socket built in at all, it's far too restrictive. It doesn't help that it's right underneath the USB socket so access will almost certainly be a pig and that these boards aren't breadboard-friendly (which would be the only real reason for having the SD card built in anyway). Laying them out on a PCB is putting a lot of connections close to the edge if you want external access to the USB socket. If you can manage without that (and also without access to the SD card) then there may be hope for this design. Personally I wouldn't buy one. IMHO Pimprini's PGA2350 is better even though (and in many cases because) there is less built-in stuff. I like the fact that the PGA2350 will let you put your own USB connector wherever you like, D+ and D- aren't available on the Olimex board so you will need a plug if you want to use it with a hub.

if it can be run on strip board it looks interesting.
there's another rpi pico that uses the ground pins as extra gpio but lost the link

It won't fit strip board easily. You would have to slot between the holes to get two rows of connections down each side. Then you couldn't get all the inner connections out, I don't think.

Same method you used on your 44 pin Pico module. You would need to use a pair of 40 pin header strips. 10 pins hanging out each end and wired to the inner rows of holes.
