In recent months, suddenly like an infected PC, ads pop onto my PC screen! Huh? They also randomly, appear in multiples, now on my long term licensed owned W10 64bit business laptop lock screen, like from out of nowhere!! What the? No doubt others on this forum worldwide get this inflicted on there screen too. So folks, fight back, as this blatant annoying infection is forced on you, you never gave permission to, or knew of, in the first place! ![]() I not promoting Microsnoft or its Edge rubbish, rather, I pose Help with this "illegal advertising infliction forced by Microsoft" on users owned operating systems, they, Microsoft, have no right to inflict on as advertising bill boards! ![]() This is good advice, (unless others can provide better advise of course) How to Remove the Most Annoying Ads From Windows https://au.pcmag.com/migrated-15175-windows-10/103581/how-to-remove-the-most-annoying-ads-from-windows I think Micosoft have added this to W10 of recent, forced marketing. Anyway, this might answer to others why suddenly things appear, out of our knowledge or control, when all we want to do is use our PC. Regards to all. ![]() |

I personally, have not seen any of this on my one remaining W10 machine, which is fully up to date. Is it possible, that what you are seeing, is a result of a malware and not a MS issue? .....not wanting to be the Devil's advocate here.... Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing? I wouldn't put it past MS to do this kind of thing, but having said that, I don't know if even MS would go THAT far, as it would piss off SO MANY people, it would be very bad public relations for them to do that. I suspect malware/virus more then MS doing this to you. Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

strictly speaking, you don't own the windows operating system running on your computer, you just have a licence to use it at the pleasure of microsoft. but as grogster says, please do post a screenshot if you can. i have seen the amount of 'superfluous stuff' vary greatly on those occasions when i've had to interact with other folk's computers (i don't run windows myself). much of it is in the form of desktop notifications and in-browser advertising being inserted. often these things are the result of a user answering 'yes' to what may seem to be a quite innocent popup in the distant past. also be aware that if you are accessing the internet via a VPN, you may see differing levels of 'extras' depending on the country windows and/or your browser thinks you are in. i would suggest an alternative operating system, but i don't want to sound like a broken record! cheers, rob :-) |

Ah... Are you one of those users who keeps the browser open full screen at all times and you are seeing browser pop-ups? Microsoft like it when you don't use the desktop. Browser ads are easy to fix - change to the Brave browser as your default. They could still possibly be malware though. Yeah I've seen them on one of my workstations, not the other. They pop up on the log in screen, usually just news feeds or local weather. Both are Windows 10. The workstation that doesn't display them is a old machine that was upgraded from Win7. Its just one of those things many of us have to suck up and live with. All of my clients run Windows desktops and Office 365 these days, and until I can get all my development software to run on Linux, unfortunately I need to run them as well. I have to run Edge/Chrome browsers and Office 365 in a Windows environment, that's just life. Bring on retirement. Hi SuperTech, I will guess that these are notifications. Check your notification settings by typing "notification settings" (not the "") in the windows search bar and it should bring up the settings. Simply disable them. you 'may' still get notifications that MickeyMouseSoft thinks are super important though. Regards, Mick (The Big One) . Do the adverts look like this, in the bottom right of the screen? ![]() If so, they appear to be from Chrome. Click on the three dots at the top right and it will take you to "Settings" for Google Chrome, and turn notifications off. |

Update, Update, Thanks to all replies, but only Big Mick understood and was spot on. As stated, those with Windows 10 via updates have had this Micostuffed 'added to there systems', like it or lump it, AND for those talking about viruses or browsers um, very much, NO! This is Specific to Microsnoft operating system itself before ANY other use whatsoever. Why I put here to assist others, that use the Microsnuffed Windows operating system. Microsnuffed calls it "Suggestions", Making any of your PC's a Microsnofted billboard! In Windows 11, this is how to deal with them!
