Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I've really taken to MX-Linux, and am now going to use it, to teach me some more Linux stuff.

MX makes SAMBA sharing really quite easy, from what I have seen in the live USB, so I am going to install MX to an SSD, and then play around with this idea a bit more.

Historically, I have used Puppy Linux - and I still do - but I am wanting to play with a new SIMPLE concept, and MX seems to be it.

MX is lightweight, and has an amazing set of tools and features, so I want to see how hard it is, to setup a SAMBA server using MX.

I expect there WILL be stumbling blocks, but I hope we can document it here in this thread, as I know that other members here, use MX Linux.

During the initial setup, it asks me for a SAMBA name and workgroup, so that is really rather encouraging.  The MX Linux SAMBA share app seems quite easy to use.

I WOULD like to know how to set a static IP address for MX Linux, but A.I. is very good at telling me how to do that, so that is one thing that A.I. does well....

The saga will continue tomorrow after I have installed MX to an SSD, and mounted a 22TB HDD for the shares.

Sounds interesting (as I've not used MX).
