I don't understand this at all. As a user, I see no functional difference between Win10 and Win11 in everyday activity. It is true that I followed somebody's guidance on how to de-MS Win11, and I don't sign in using the Microsoft account that I have. Otherwise it runs all my programs, even ECADWIN with a date of 8/19/1998 and the very obscure Family Tree Maker from 6/28/2002 which I got from my sister-in-law. It does reboot occasionally after an update. It takes me a few minutes to restore my setup, but Win11 is actually better than Win10 in doing some of the restoring for me. I have to do this restore maybe twice a month. It's an annoyance, but so is having to put gas in my car from time to time. Meanwhile I work in an environment with which I have become familiar since Windows 3.1 came out. That said, I have some Linux OS (mostly openWrt and Raspbian) running on probably 15-20 little headless devices (and have many more of those retired in drawers and boxes somewhere). I don't think Onshape does what I want. I have AutoCAD format DWG files, which are all 2D. Onshape is more like Solidworks (and the free version doesn't let you save to local files, only to "the cloud" where everything is automatically shared with everyone else on the system). I can convert DWG to DXF using various tools, but it's messy, especially when you have a lot of small blocks which all have to be converted individually. Also, as I said, the DXF files are huge as the free CAD programs tend not to accept the binary version, only ASCII. It may well be that I have to save DXF files to a compressed partition just to save space - if I can get that idea to work. Thanks. :) I had seen that one - it's definitely one of the best sources of info. However, it still assumes that you are an experienced Arduino IDE user. There appears to be no other alternative way to use the CYD other than a version of micropython or Annexe RDS. It was the cost that attracted me too at first. :) You get a lot for your money, especially when AE has them at a reduced price. I should really have ignored them as soon as I saw "ESP32" because I've never had much success in that direction. I have a couple of them sitting, unloved, in a box. I keep meaning to use them, honestly, but somehow I can always find something more interesting to do. Like watching the adverts on the TV or washing up. ;) I probably won't be investigating it further until after Christmas now. Too much going on.
