Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Jim, Happy to report The HDC3022 and my wet/dry bulb setup are reading almost the same, within 2%. I'm going to go with the wet/dry setup because I'm tired of changing sensors. Hopefully it will be maintenance free.

Dear Pascal,

My experience with the wet/dry bulb solution is that you do need some form of airflow. It needs to be the same for both sensors. But in still air, you are depending on incidental air streaming , i.e. from human walking along, and then values can vary temporary. In my setup I had a small fan running at it's slowest speed that had a second function in circulating the air in the frog habitat. The heater element in the frog habitat was on the other side of a grid, so the frogs could not het in contact with electronics. And the fan circulated the warm air through the habitat.

When you have a large basin, the response may be slow. The normal temperature sensor will adapt to room temperature fastest, but the sock sensor will have a thermal conductive wet sock to the water basin. Temperature of the water basin may lag ambient temperature. So if you have fast changing temperatures, you need a small basin to adapt to room temperature fast, or a sock that has low thermal conduction (not a massive sock, but a thread). The frog habitat was constant temperature, so there it worked fine.

Due to evaporation(mainly in the sock) you will need to replenish the water basin.

@ Volthout,   I have a small basin of water and I do have air circulation, it seems to be working very well. Thanks for your help.
