Hello all.

Trying to just play about with Easy Effects, but the SECOND I select ANY effect, the audio is TOTALLY muted.  Anyone know why?  Delete the effect, and the sound comes back normal.  Only playing with the COMPRESSOR effect right now.
Is there some other app I need to install?
An audio "Pipeline" app perhaps?

There are plenty of videos on YT etc, showing how to get this working, but NONE of them show this muting problem - they all just select the filter they want, and start playing around with it.

In my case, select a filter - ANY filter - and I get nothing but a hard-mute.
Playing around with various settings does nothing.
Delete the filter, and the sound comes back normal again.

VU display is jumping up and down inside Easy Effects, up until I try to enable any filter.

I'm on LMDE6, and according to research, Easy Effects IS compatible with LMDE, but perhaps the standard Ubuntu-Mint handles audio slightly differently, so people on that don't have any issues?

Can anyone here who uses Mint, please try Easy Effects, and report if they can make it work.
I'll need to know SPECIFICALLY if you are on Ubuntu-Mint, or LMDE.
I'm most interested in anyone running LMDE reporting if Easy Effects works for them or not, cos that's what I am running, but any information would be useful at this point.

OK, installed Ubuntu-Mint xfce edition, installed Easy Effects, and it runs PERFECTLY under this setup.  I can select any of the effects, and they take effect - pardon the pun - immediately, so I am playing about with this on the xfce install for now.

I'd like to get this working on my main machine though, which runs LMDE6(Faye)
Therefore MUST be something to do with configuration when run under LMDE, cos it works fine under Ubuntu-Mint.

I might start a thread on the LMDE forum, but I still welcome any comments here.

Just tested this ALSO with a clean-install of Ubuntu-Mint Cinnamon desktop, and that works perfectly too.

DEFINITELY an LMDE6+ specific issue.

It may not be a LMDE issue, it might be a Debian 12 "Bookworm" issue. Debian is now up to 13, but I don't know if LMDE has caught up yet.

have you tried typing into google:

LMDE6, Easy Effects, no audio after effect selected

if i do this an AI generated (ugh!) response comes back suggesting:

- Ensure pipewire-pulse and wireplumber are installed as LMDE6 uses PipeWire, and Easy Effects interacts with it. Incorrect configuration can lead to issues.
- Check Pavucontrol
- Go to the Playback tab and ensure the correct application is set
- Go to the Output Devices tab and check volume controls
- Use alsamixer; Sometimes lower-level ALSA settings can cause issues

and a reddit link suggests:
> go to edit
> preferences
> previews
> uncheck mute audio when preview is not real time

could it be that once an effect is selected, your machine simply does not have enough computrons available to render a real-time preview? perhaps you can only render to a file?

sorry i can't be of more help

cheers,

I also have this issue with Easyeffects. I can install and run Easyeffects, but the instant that I add an effect, sound cuts off. Disabling the effect restores sound. I am using an external USB DAC.

Easyeffects was working just fine until a recent flatpak update to that program.

My operating system is LMDE 6."

subsequent posts to the thread offer a few suggestions.
