The eBay page says
•Output : 5V~12V / 1A

Is that a typo, or does the voltage fluctuate a bit?

A battery backed Power Supply would be good for projects that require the Maximite to always be on, such as a home alarm system.

yes nick thats a must for any alarm system i have a 36 volt battery system including solar panals and also a wind generator ...the maxi should have to be constantly on line for "what ever purpose that it is running" i have three maxi`s atm one constantly on line from a 12 volt tap from my 36 volt system but hence to say most peops dont have this advantage of having 250 a/hour supply on hand i think that really what they need is a 12 volt sla with a trickle charger connected to it ...regards sparkey
technicians do it with least resistance

Typo, USB only supplies 5v.
