Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Found this interesting link for those wanting to crack or better understand serial strings from Infra Red Remotes and possibly Wireless Remotes using free software and some basic interfacing into a PC audio port.
Refer to following: http://wiki.nethome.nu/doku.php/analyzer/start
To quote from the downloadable manual:......
The protocol Analyzer Tool is intended to help analyzing and decoding slow pulse based protocols such as IR-remote protocols and RF lamp switch protocols. The Analyzer has protocol decoders for a number of standard protocols and can decode the parameters from them. It can also help analyzing the signals of unknown protocols and help in building decoders for new protocols.

The PS2 KBD to 8 bit parallel or I2C I designed (and built and tested) has a firmware option (software selectable between PS2 or IR) to read the "Standard" 4 byte TV remotes if any interest. Willing to share what I found.David M.
