Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hi All,
Just a head's up for anyone wanting to drive a motor to a specific position and hold it. Check out the Kangaroo X2 from Dimension Engineering http://www.dimensionengineering.com/products/kangaroo
It interfaces with their great line of motor controllers (5-60A) and:
Auto-tunes for any servo (VERY COOL INDEED!)
Has stall/crash detection so no limit switches needed at ends of travel
Has encoder or pot interface for feedback
Serial control with multidrop
Is real cheap for all the coding you save
I use these with Polulu's line of 37mm motors which have magnetic encoders. They are super easy to drive from MMbasic with the 'simplified serial' protocol!
You can turn them into a HD hobby servo with custom range or build that 6 axis CNC Mill running a G-Code interpreter on a MMite.
