Hey Ben,

I just tested it empirically. I used Duinomite, powered by 12V
external power supply on the PWR jack and then I connected two 10 Ohm
resistors on the 5V line at the Arduino-like shield connector. At 12V
the power consumption of the bare board was 0.09A and when the load is
connected it goes up to 0.24A. I kept track of the 5V after the
MC33063 which was constant (around 5.1 Volts) before and after connecting the load.

In other words - the 5V rail might provide safely up to 200mA.

That was timely! My project has reached a point where I was beginning to wonder what the upper limit might be.
