All,

I am currently creating an eBook dedicated to the MicroMite.

There are already lots of ideas mapped out for content but thought it sensible to ask all MicroMite Beta testers out there for your valued input.

So here is the question: What content would you like to see included in an eBook dedicated to the MicroMite

It is not meant to be a replacement for Geoff's excellent work on the manual he has already created; instead it is targeted to be an eBook that anyone using a MicroMite would find interesting and informative, and would want next to them while 'tinkering' with their MicroMite.

So let your minds run wild and lets see if we can come up with some innovative ideas & suggestions. No matter how crazy - lets voice them here!

Perhaps you have a wacky project or new invention that you have just created and would like to be published (no more flashing LED projects though!)

No matter how big, or small, or indeed how ambitious, let us all bounce some ideas off each other.

I believe this forum to be the best place to kick off ideas so please let us begin right here tonight and see where this creative journey takes us . . . .

I think that jman's sexy LCD's need to be included for a start - I still have not received mine but they can't be that far away I hope. They are dirt cheap, and giving a graphical output cheaply, would appeal to many people.

You would need to obtain jman's OK for inclusion of his demo code(s), but he may well post here on that side of things.

I have some ideas, but will have to think about them a little more before I post the ideas, so they don't seem too nutty.

How to flash a chip with the micromite firmware - for the absolute beginners, step by step. Also some hacky ways to update a micromite firmware ( using a maximite ? )

Hi Whitewizzard.

I created an Ebook “Maximite Language Manual” based on Geoff G’s Document and I published it on thebackshed 24 January 2013. It was my first attempt at creating an E document and it is not optimal because of the unwieldy conversion process from Geoff’s document via Sigil Epub Editor (and much editing) which has left redundant HTML code. But a user would not find this a problem; it just makes the file bigger. Find my effort on the forum and discussions by using “EBook for Language Manual” in a thebackshed forum search; I don’t know how else to direct you to the topic.


I have not kept it up to date past version V4.3. Please use anything here to help your efforts. It was formatted to suit my Kobo EReader but Geoff reported that it worked OK on his Kindle after conversion to a Kindle file.

Easier said than done. I wrote my own assembler/programmer for 8 bit PICs some years ago in pascal and later in VB6. It was no mean feat as different pics had different programming algorithms.

The pic32 has a MIPS core and not standard PIC and from my reading of the programming instructions, is rather involved.

Having said that, there might be a way to get a MM to emulate a terminal and use xmodem to download a programme from the SD card? But that doesn't address the issue of dumping in an updated hex file using ICSP.Edited by MOBI 2014-03-09
