Hope you're joking. This wil almost surely also kill the chip used for chip & pin auth and may also nuke the mag-stripe. In all of Europe (and also starting here in US), if you swipe a card with a chip, the terminal will ask you to insert the card and enter the pin. If you want to kill ONLY the RFID part, you just need to break the circuit in that long coil winded inside the card's plastic (see last post on the previous page). PS: This will also stink up badly your microwave oven. |

what was interesting on my drive home from work today was on 891 they were talking about this. Now the recommendation was to use a wallet with a faraday cage basically a metal screened wallet. Hell it has been 10 years since I made wallets so may have to design a faraday cage wallet for the mass's....... |

I had a look at my card today and I could quite clearly see the NFC antenna as parts of the card are semi transparent. I scanned the card and put it into a PDF. You can see the antenna makes 5 loops around near the edges of the card and the red arrows point to where the ends of the antenna move away from the edge to connect to the chip. 2014-05-30_105926_MC1.pdf I can see a small size drill bit in the future of this card and some translucent silicone to fill the hole. |
