Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Just had a link emailed to me regarding a very low cost GPRS module. It also includes BlueTooth 3.0 and an FM receiver based on a Arduino shield footprint - not bad for under £45.

Could quickly make some interesting projects when partnered with a MicroMite.

See here for details . . . .

(Note: this is not a cheap copy or a poorly made product; it is from a reputable supplier I use on a weekly basis and am therefore happy to recommend this product)

I have been using a gsm module like this to do text message and voice. I wish I could figure out how to implement the gprs side of things so uMite could send and receive emails and tweets and cool web things. All these type of modules work great on arduino due to the sketches and libraries available to that platform. Trying to port the code to uMite is a huge struggle for me.

I had a MaxiMite doing GPRS things - will see if I can port this to a MicroMite. Only trouble is finding enough time in the day.

I really could do with 'metric days' i.e. 100hrs per day!

White, what kind of things were you doing on the gprs side using maximite?

I was reading iButton ID numbers and also RFID cards and sending this data (via GPRS) to a Port listening program running on a server. Worked very well but to replicate something similar would require a re-write of the port listening program (as belonged to an ex-colleague who I have lost touch with).
