Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

It is a bit frustrating that my earlier confirmation went unnoticed to some people, although I have tested these first hand, but anyway. It comes down to a personal choice I guess... http://rittle.org

@kiiid
We did indeed notice your first post saying you had some 170's which is why in response I posted the general question asking if anyone knew whether all 33 I/Os were still available on the 170 (this is very important for me to have confirmed).
I then saw your second reply saying 'the 170's work perfectly fine with the mite . . . ' and hence I asked for clarification from Geoff about, amount other things, the 150 Hex file working on the 170. To modify the hex file is beyond my capabilities; and I certainly don't want to have to start doing things in C as that is also meaningless to me. So yes, it may work 'perfectly fine' but can you state with how much 'effort'?
So please, from all your experience with regards to the 170, can you please confirm the following:
1> Whether or not the 150 .hex file works on the 170 without any modification whatsoever. If not, then what are the steps needed to get a working hex file?
2> Whether there is any loss of feature(s) when using a 170 TQFP over a 150 TQFP (I am obviously not referring to the utilisation of only half the memory of which Geoff has previously highlighted would require some change in parameter values within his code).
3> If all 33 I/Os are available on the 170 (or if some are I/O's are 'lost' as two are with the 250 due to other pin functionality)
The answer to the above will give me 100% clarification without any ambiguity.
Also, are there any alterations required to any settings in MPLab (apart from I assume selecting the 170 as the target device)?
And finally, have you tried the above on a 170B (DIL) and/or a 170D?
I look forward to your reply
PS: I have ordered two 170D's which will arrive next week. So the 14 x 150D's I have managed to obtain should see me ok till then

I can confirm that the 28pin uMite .hex (4.5) file works 100% in a PIC32MX170F256B-501/SP.
The PIC32MX170F256B-501/SP is available in production qty from Microchip Direct.
