Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I have a whole bunch of 32MX270 DIPs and SOICs and would like to use a few as Geoff's ASCII video terminal.

Normally a 250 is used. Can it be substituted for a 270 without changes?

I would try it and see with one of the DIPs first.

Worst case - it won't.

But on the other hand, it may well work. What is the difference between the 250 and 270 chips? If it is just more memory in the 270, then I don't see any immediate reason why the larger chip should not work - try it and see!

According to the datasheet it is only more memory.
I am wondering about the bootloader, if that is different or not.
I'll give it a go tomorrow with the available hex file.
I am not setup yet to compile it from source.
