Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hi

The PIC32MZ2048ECM064-I/MR is supposed to be available from Microchip direct for GBP 6.98 in 1-25 quantities with shipping estimated for 17-Nov-2014.

Some questions

1) Is this date believable ?

2) Will the existing versions of MMBasic run on the PIC32MZ chips, or will a new version have to be released ?

I appreciate that we're still only just moving to 170F's, but I happened across the PIC32MZ's on Microchip Direct, and the prices seemed very reasonable indeed for all that extra power, so I just had to ask the group for their opinion/thoughts.

Many thanks

Peter

They have been available on and off for a while now on digikey and element14. I even had some ordered but they could not deliver due to import restrictions, as far as I know that is due to the cryptography engine built in. So I would say it is realistic.
I have been dying to get my Wattmon on a faster bigger better platform but it looks like it isn't going to happen anytime soon.
Edit: could not deliver to india, I am sure Australia will work fineEdited by akashh 2014-10-24

The PIC32MZ is not easy to work with, see my comments in http://www.thebackshed.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=6555

BTW, it is still a work in progress...

Thank you Geoff for the reply. I've scanned that thread and understand the obstacles.

I shall be patient !

In the meantime there's mountains to be getting along with

Take care

Peter
