Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Like many on this forum, I have several different Mites - original maxi, mini, colour and micro versions and I am finding it increasingly difficult to keep track of which commands work on which platforms.

I like working with my CMM to do program development on but have to remember differences if I decide to move to a a different mite. The obvious response is "develop code in MMEdit connected to the target platform" which IS what I try to do whenever possible.

Do any other MMBasic users have any thoughts on whether MMBasic for the micros continue to diverge from its big brothers and what would be ideal from an end users point of view? I appreciate that this is entirely Geoff's prerogative as to how the program develops over time but I would be interested in other users ideas on mini/maxi/colour versus micro code and feature divergence?

Geoff, please don't take this as any form of criticism - your efforts on creating the product and responsiveness to suggestions on features and development are greatly appreciated and respected.

Regards, Doug.

Geoff has mentioned that he will be bringing some of the new uMite code into the maximite.

Which code will depend on the capabilities of the different chips.
(I would like 64bit integers on the maximite)

I would like to make it easier to spot the differences in MMEdit. Something that I have given some thought to but haven't done any actual coding for yet.

For my purposes, I use mono maximites, CMM and micromites and have a use for all.

My main DAQ system is changing from a single maximite to a 'master' maximite with 4 or 5 micromites spread around the buildings. Most of the linking will be serial cable with one RF link to the gate.

Yeah at one point I wanted to fold micromite stuff into the maximite document that I made. Doing so will be a bigger effort than I have the spare time for, mainly because of all the effort it would take to clearly delineate differences.

Sorry to hear it, "Beginning the Maximite" is my goto reference and I was really hoping to see a update and/or seperate Micromite editions.

CG,

I would be happy to assist with any work on integrating umite info into your excellent document (under your direct editorial control of course )

Doug.
