Hi Plasma,

I have built a board with a Trinamic TMC429 and TMC260/TMC262 and controlled it with a Maximite over SPI.
In an other project I use the A3982 with a Micromite to drive 3 steppers.

Which nema did you want to use? What resolution did you need (half-step, mini-step, micro-step)?

Not with a mmbasic yet but very often with an arduino.
I get the best results with a stepper driverlike the A3982 or especially smooth stepping with the DRV8825.
Polulu has great little devices Polulu stepper drivers
Microblocks. Build with logic.

Hi Plasma,

it's independent from your used driver chip!
TMC260/TMC262 can half, mini and micro-steps with acceleration ramps.
The TMC429 in combination with these chips can handle up to 3 motors inclusive position-switches.

The A3982 can only full and half-steps...

What would you do with your motor?

I build a mechanic game with x/y rotating plattform
And some sensors for calibration.
No real power needed because the plattform have 200 gramm.
Only fast and acurate rotating in booth directions.
I build this last year with some servos but dislike
The inacuracy if you rotate over a long range with
Fast steps.
I will not use digital servos because i need the
Stepper method for a other project ( messsystem)

For small stepper motors, these drivers seem to work nicely. Wahnsinn cheap, too.
Visit Vegipete's *Mite Library for cool programs.
