Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I wasn't meaning just HDMI. VGA with decent resolution & colours, LCD, LVDS, whatever - they're all doable from very cheap things that could be connected to a 'mite rather than worrying about a 'mite doing the job.

Good morning Gent's

I really love a the LCD TFT display types that have been added to the mix and would like to see things continue along this front with the new port also. Having devices in the 7" (or so) class would make a decent "Panel" type user interface with touch. But, the main thing that everyone could help with would be creating the many types of on screen "objects" that compose a library of useful "GUI" parts that are either built in are able to add on with in line code. If we could figure out a method of how to do this, we could make creating new objects "easy" for the end user of this system. At the moment, I have been using the 4D 7" display to create the UI objects so far, but don't like the cost or their "picture" based way of doing the objects. But, so far, it does do the job...

Wonder what everyone's thoughts were on this..??

I have the 429 board with the TFT.

IMHO I think that the TFT is a bit small for doing any programming but on it.
But it is great for an application display.

I kind of like the idea of doing any writing of software applications via remote USB or RS-232 terminal but have the TFT accessed through the application that is running.

This is the way it is set up already!

Then maybe another protocol could be used for graphics using a graphic terminal emulator using a PIC 32 or something.

I used to have one of the VTxxx (241, 340, 525, 1300) Color terminal's from DEC back in the Late 80's.

I forget exactly which one it was, I think it was VT241 and we may have had the VT525 too, but it was real cool at the time,I do remember having two different models to work with.

FWIW

for a few months i startet to programm an graphical display with inline gui and an some interpretet gfx commands (make button ,lines, rects, txt ...) with a rpi.
unfortunately my prefered programminglanguage has a ogl-es bug so i stopped at this point.
the idea behind is becomming a commandostation for some mmbasic devices.
ok no touchscreen , but using a mouse isnt a bad thing for.
ahh Rpi has Hdmi ;)

Here is a PDF on the STM32F429 that I haven't seen before.
Maybe this can help others in how the Graphic system and hardware buss works.
I just found this so I haven't read the whole thing yet,
