Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hi folks.

I have one of these $25 boards to play with, and I remember someone here linked to a version of BASIC that the A+ could boot right into.

EDIT: NOT MMBASIC. I think it might have been a BBC BASIC clone.

I am not wanting to port over to that or anything, but I am trying out various things on the new $25 toy, and wanted to play with that.

...but I cannot find the link to it.

I've had a bit of a hunt around the forums, but I cannot remember in which thread it was mentioned.

Can those in the know please link me to it, or just mention the name of it, and I can hunt it down myself.

Thanks. Edited by Grogster 2015-03-28

My first post!

I think you are referring to "Return to Basics":

https://projects.drogon.net/rtb/

I am very interested in how it compares to MMBasic.

Welcome to the forums, astroboy.

(not incrediboy or falloutboy?)

Your link was not the one I was looking for, sorry to say.

I did find the link though:

Raspberry Pi BASIC

that was the link, i posted it in a thread some weeks back. though i can't claim to have found the page, a friend of mine, luke, found it after i'd mentioned mmbasic to him and the idea of getting it running on the cheapest RPi.

while it doesn't provide a particularly useful basic implementation itself, the page and associated code does provide a recipe that could be applied to maximite basic to get it up and running on the RPi A+. mmbasic would then have a couple hundred megs of RAM to kick around in, which could make for some seriously interesting applications. it would also be just about the cheapest ever maximite.

i would love to see someone pick up and run with this idea!

cheers,
rob :-)Edited by robert.rozee 2015-03-28
