Hi folks.

I am looking at getting some of these motors for a project, and wondered if anyone here has had any experience driving them?

I need a slow RPM drive, which is variable from 0RPM up to about 30RPM max, so thought that one of these steppers would be a good starting point, but I don't know how to go about driving them. Is it as simple as pulsing each phase one after another at a variable frequency to alter the rotational speed?

EDIT: eBay sell these little driver boards which seem to be suitable, and you-tube videos show this controller being used, so I am looking at that module, connected to the 2-phase stepper motor, being fed from a MM output pin with PWM into the STEP pin.

EDIT: Yep, this would seem to be the best way to do it.

I think I have answered my own question - sorry.

I have also downloaded the datasheet for the 4988 chip.Edited by Grogster 2015-03-28
Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops!
