Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

As a new self-entertainment project I have started the design of a MX470-based laptop.
My initial thoughts are to use a 7" TFT, provide a SD card slot (maybe even two!), some suitable form factor lithium battery, tactile keyboard.
But I am struggling with the mechanical part (well, my old arch enemy:) ). What would be the easiest approach to get something like this done?

PS. As promised before, soon I will present the earlier mentioned ELLO computer, had to revise the board and that slowed it down a bit.

Sounds Awesome...

Any plans for a touch option... I was wanting to create an EIS touch panel for cheaper that the 4D systems 7" panel... But, there is no GUI objects yet... I had dome some simple testing withe the TFT Maximite prototype i made with the UBW board and 5" LCD display... The objects were few, but seemed to work well..!

Anyway, nuff bable... As far as the mechanical part, why the laptop form factor..?

Sounds like a kick-Ass project...

Sounds Great Kon,

Are you asking about a mass produced case or a single one-off case?

Thanks for the encouragement. Yes, the case is my problem because it will define the shape and size of the board. I am not planning to use touch screen - personally never been a great fan of them and see no value added in this project as well, at least for now.
What else could I put there - any suggestions?

Hi Kon,

In German the Word "revanchieren" means booth
Situations.
Give back something good or it means really revenge.
I translate "revanchieren" to revenge , but its wrong.

So i hope you are understand it.

No worries, I was joking
Pretty much have completed my concept design as of now, except for definitive selection of the display panel and keyboard. I am still working on those two.

Maybe not "revenge" but "pay back", which can have a good or bad meaning depending on the context.
