My latest creation: the LoggerMite+, which is a MicroMite+ board with the uSD card, and the ability to log data from up to three different serial COM port streams at the same time, and can also print out that data as it receives it on a thermal printer.

COM1, COM2 and COM3 are logged, and COM4 is connected to the printer. Console is via the MM+'s USB feature.

Note this board uses a more standard Mini-USB "B" socket, and the E64 board will most likely receive this socket as an updated footprint, as this socket is much easier to find, and saves you having to get a special one from Element14 - although you can also get the bigger one from Element14 and Altronics etc.

As this is a 1A(alpha) project, I still have to write the code to make it all work, but I expect that should not be too much of a problem - I have it all working as modules of code as I tested each feature. The sexy MM+ can support very high-speed serial too, although, I have not tested the drag-racing-burn-out serial speeds yet.

Something I have always needed, was the ability to be able to log data from serial devices for various reasons. I forgot to add a RTC to this version, but I am thinking that the internal RTC on the MM+ is vastly more accurate then the RTC in the 170 anyway due to the crystal reference, but there may still be good reasons to add an external RTC module. Food for thought.

Once I have a working code, I will release a construction pack on this thread(and my website, which should be up very soon), including code, as some people will need more features then others will, and some will want the printer, others will not.

Boards ordered, so I will update this thread again once I have one assembled.

Another useful module

Please can I suggest something for future boards - nothing major.

On the Mini-B USB sockets, many types have 'two plastic locator pins'. These are in a standard place. Can you make holes in your PCBs for these please to avoid having to 'snip' them off; they also help massively with assembly

Dammit!!!!

Forgot that, and you are quite right.

Needs to be the same as the locating dowels for the uSD card socket, I think is what you are saying, and my samples of the full-length USB socket I have here DO have those little locating dowels on them, but I forgot to put little holes in for them.

I will change the footprint for that part now, so that next time I use it, it will be right from then on.

EDIT: Here you go, Phil.

Holes 4.4mm apart, 3mm from pin end, 6mm from plug end, 1.7mm from each dowel to edge of socket. This was based on a common footprint I found on google images.Edited by Grogster 2015-08-02
