Future OPTION(s) setup from MM+ Explore 64 SD module? I know you can only do OPTION(s) commands from the command prompt not by the program user code. If the user has a "fixed" keyboard, sounder/buzzer, TFT SSD1963 LCD display with touch connected to the MM+ Explore 64, wouldn't it be easier to read all the OPTION(s) commands from the MM+ Explore 64 SD card? This way, no PC console would be required on a fixed peripheral configuration like a portable MMBasic laptop. Note: This would require the MM+ Explore 64 SD OPTION to be already configured and setup. Note: By grounded GPIO pin could activate this process? ![]() |

Most options are remembered so they only need to be set once. No need to read them from a SDcard. Many of the options also required a reboot so reading them automatically would be tricky. Continual reboots etc. Jim VK7JH MMedit |

I agree with Jim. I like the idea, MMAndy, but as Jim says - the killer is really the fact that those options need you to restart MMBASIC. Still, it's a nice idea. Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

If you are looking at producing large numbers, you can configure one, read the program using MPLAB and then use that HEX to program the rest of the batch. The procedure to do that has been discussed here recently. Jim VK7JH MMedit |

EXCELLENT idea, Jim - should have thought of that! ![]() Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

My first goal is eliminate using a PC to configure the MM+ Explore 64 and my second goal, which is extremely farfetched, is to come up with a solution to update the firmware/user application code without using a Pickit3 and/or PC. Think of it as a "black box" with a SD card and a hex file containing the firmware and application code which programs the MM+ Explore 64 stamp module without a PC. |

@MMAndy Hint: PTG from a PicKit3 - Is the method I am using, and works a charm! I think you may have the same end goal as me requiring a number of MM+ 'gadgets' to be programmed with the same firmware & 'option settings'. By the way your Explore 64 fully Assembled module was despatched yesterday (UK Tuesday). WW |
