Grogster: Your cat image is more than just a cat image, it is the cat image and your setup. Micromites and Maximites! - Beginning Maximite |

As CG mentions, this is not the Cat .bmp file (unless my iMac is insisting in converting it into an HTML page) I have tried numerous 320x240 bmp's and no joy with any ![]() Peter M has kindly offered to come to my rescue though ![]() |

Curses. ![]() Yes, I linked you to the GIF image, not the BMP - sorry. ![]() You still want if matherp is going to help you? Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

UPDATE: I had the pleasure of spending a couple of hours with matherp yesterday afternoon to see if we could get to the bottom of my LOAD IMAGE issue. All my other attempts to resolve this had failed so I was really mystified as to what could be going on. To recap, my SD card worked in terms of loading, saving, and listing files, the 2.4" ILI9341 display worked in terms of drawing boxes, lines, circles, text, etc, BUT when I tried LOAD IMAGE, it resulted in a staggered pixelated pattern (see photo in earlier post). What Peter discovered is that the card I was using was a 'normal' SD card (2G Kingston) and this was proved to be causing my issue. It appears that any SD card used must actually be a SDHC card to work 100% of the time with the MM firmware (probably going to get a whole load of posts now from people saying that they are using a <2Gb SD card!!) So even though my SD card was ok for file 'normal' saving and loading, it appears that it was too slow to keep up with the firmware to guarantee correct reading during a LOAD IMAGE. The fact that Touch, SD card, and TFT all share the same SPI bus, along with the speed the SPI bus is working at, means it is working close to its 'limit' (think capacitance, and rise & fall times). Simply put; all 4Gb SD cards (or higher) are the SDHC type and seem to work 100% reliably. I will do a lot more testing on this over the coming days, but a big thanks to Peter once again for helping resolve this issue. ![]() By the way (and I hope he doesn't mind me saying this), his house (and garage) is like an Aladin's cave! I also saw his new Ultimate BackPack PCB ![]() WW |

@ WW Since it was the card being a bit slow it would be interesting to see if the image would load if the MM CPU was slowed down. Paul. "It is better to be ignorant and ask a stupid question than to be plain Stupid and not ask at all" |

Thanks Paul, I will try this just to see what happens. Am working on it later today so will update tonight (UK time!) |

In my tests, 2GB Kingston, and no problems to report. Perhaps just lucky do you think? Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

SDHC or just SD? EDIT: And what Class / speed? |

Just SD. No class markings. Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

The cards I use a lot of are the MicroSD type but within an adaptor (to make it standard SD size). I prefer the larger SD size as they are not so easy to mis-place!! Anyway, I bought a whole load of 2Gb Kingston's (card & adaptor packs) from a national high-street retailer (PC-World). This was some time ago when 2Gb was 'big'; and their speed was considered 'good'! I have never had a problem with any of them when using with MaxiMites, cameras, phones, tablets, and MicroMites, etc UNTIL the Load Image issue the other day. The tests Peter M carried out seemed to prove conclusively that the type of card was too slow. I am about to solder my set-up back together and will then be able to see if the SDHC card(s) have resolved this issue. The SDHC cards have a higher minimum speed than the SD card I was using. It maybe that the SD card Grogs is using is a faster type than my SD card and hence his works ok. Card speed must play a part in all of this and no doubt Geoff may chime in with a recommended minimum SD card speed. Will update later hopefully . . . . . WW |
