Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

If you happen to need to program a Mite remotely and you don't have a TCP-Serial device but you do have a ESP8266, then use it! I can report I have used with brilliant success an ESP loaded with ESP-Link firmware , its just worked! I used the latest beta version. just joined it to my network as a station and monitored and reprogrammed a 170 with no issues at all.
I did have some issues with Teraterm (on TCP) however but I found another terminal program called Shamcom Terminal , rather odd interface but worked well.

Mike,

How smooth of a connection are you getting? I tried an earlier version of that software and found it VERY "jerky". I never lost any data in either direction but the hesitations were bad enough MMEdit could not download a program to the Micromite. At the time I was not sure if it was my ESP8266 experimenter board or the software. I have been planning to setup another ESP8266 module without the extra hardware of the experimenter board and see if it will run any smoother.

Hi Curtis, I have to say I could not get MMEdit to communicate via TCP but also I did not spend much time on that aspect as I have usually used Teraterm to load programs. I also could not get Teratem to behave so that led me to look for an alternative which i found in Shamcom terminal, this program worked perfectly. I had none of the "jerky" communication you mentioned. The program has a Macro function so I set one to send Autosave and then selected the "crunched" file from mmedit to send . As i say I had no problems at all and did many program uploads and program monitoring as I was debuging and optimising a program.

Cheers Mike
