What size?

There are several to choose from in both the SPI and parallel ones.
Parallel ones based on the SSD1963 chip are the fastest to respond.
SPI ones are smaller and cheaper, but also work fine.

....or do you mean those 16x2 or 40x4 type dot-matrix LCD's?

Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops!
