Hi All.

After my recent post about not being able to connect to MPLAB IPE I went to the Microchip Forum website to find some answers. After a few searches I couldn't find anything related to my problem so I thought I would start a new topic.

Of course I had to register, so i went through and completed everything and was informed that I would be contacted after, whoever the lord and master is, has looked at my application. I never heard anything.
A couple of days later I tried logging in but was advised that mi ID was not rtecognised. So I went through the register process using the same ID and was told that it has already been used (obviously by me!). So I started again with a new ID and was told again at the end that I would hear from them. (Don't call us we'll call you

).

Has anybody succsessfully managed to set a Microchip Forum account?

I set one up years ago and don't recall having to wait for approval.
You are not missing out on much, however.
Microchip never seam to answer queries in the forum.
The members are no where near as pleasant and helpful as this forum and 90 % of the time a forum search will return several people asking exactly the same question as you with no reply.

The two best forums , that I have found, for Electronics are this one and the EEVBlog Forum. The PIC List is also good but it is an old style mailing list and traffic is low.

I recently had exactly the same experience. I understand that they are having more than a little trouble digesting Atmel. Perhaps this is trickle-down...

I had issues getting my Account setup at First via sample program and the forum.
I contact Microchip through Facebook on their page and they responded right away within a few hours and fixed it right away!!

Later on I had troubles getting in to my account when I had either switched OS's or used another one of my machines, and again I contacted them on FB and they fixed it right away.

Since then I haven't had any issues.

I hope that you can get yours fixed as fast as I did.

It is amazing just how quickly issues get 'resolved' when you post on a company's FaceBook page (as geraldfryjr has demonstrated in his post above).

This is a 'trick' worth knowing about for any future 'issues' that you may have with products/services/companies (and most companies do now have a FaceBook presence these days). It really can save you hours on a phone being pushed from pillar-to-post.

Oh dear. I'm one of those people who can't be bothered with any social media.

So that way is out for me. I don't think I'll bother with it as it is just too much effort to just join a forum.

It's hard to believe that a massive company like Microchip can't make something like this simple, like all of the other forums I've joined.
It isn't so important at the moment as I resolved the issue that I had anyway.

Thanks for all the tips from you guys and I'll just get on with life without the Microchip Forum
