Hi After seeing Geoff's new Super Clock I decided to add a third time source and sound (Talkning clock) First the WiFi. This is based on an ESP8266 (Of Course) with the linked AT firmware. This firmware requires 8MB of flash. In the attachement is a screen shot of the settings required to flash the ESP8266. Instead of hard coding the SSID and WiFi password i decided to use SmartConfig this requires an application that runs on your Android device and configures the ESP8266 using your Android devices current WiFi settings. The App is from the Play Store and can be found here ESP8266 SmartConfig You will need to set your NTP server in NTP$="you server goes here" this can be an IP address or FQDN ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() To add sound I used a MP3 module given to me by viscomjim (Jim) The MP3's need to be in a folder called 01 and this must be in the root. The MP3 module has a built in Amplifier and can directly drive a speaker. Quick and nasty video is here Talking Clock The touch has been changed so that the left 1/3 of the screen when touched the clock will speak the time. If you set MP3=0 then this be go back to been the left scroll area and the MP3 module will not be used. Link to a download that contains the MP3 files, ESP8266 firmware and the MP3 Module datasheet. SuperClock-NTP-MP3 And of course the modified SuperClock basic program 2016-07-10_084028_SuperClock-NTP-MP3.zip |
