Yes, that is the old nursecall system. It was being phased out on a sector-by-sector basis anyway, but this has fried it completely, and made matter just that much more complicated in terms of having to upgrade heaps of old ones now - along with everything else...... Yes, the system uses about five or six Z80 CPU's, so it is one of the first multi-core systems. ![]() ![]() From what I can see looking at the system, it uses one Z80 each for the Printer interface, terminal screen, Pager controller and receiver processing, and one central CPU tying all these other ones together. Nowadays, one single MM+ would do the whole job with ease - haven't we come a long way..... ![]() EDIT: The stickers at the bottom-left, cover the windows in those old UV PROM's. You know - the ones you would put in a UV cabinet to erase them - long-gone technology by today's standards. Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

I am soon fitting out some seacontainers with equipment and wondered how to wire the electrics, especially ground. On my search for more knowledge i found this video that completely changed my ideas i had. The knowledge i thought i had is wrong on so many places. And viewing more of the video it is clear that even the 'code' was wrong until not that long ago. Maybe good to look at this video, as it also has a part where lightning is discussed. Grounding - Safety Fundamentals It is over an hour long, but believe me, it is well worth it, maybe even saves your live! Microblocks. Build with logic. |
